Sheboygan County, WI (WHBL) - The formation of the new East Central conference means the end of the conference rivalry between Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls for the first time in decades.
Plymouth Athletic Director Gale Grahn says ,“They’re a little disappointed that we lost that rivalry.”
Grahn tells WHBL News the new conference means added costs for new logos, more travel to face new regular opponents, and a little less emphasis on games between the Panthers and Falcons.
“It won’t quite be the same. They’ll never be a conference title on the line so from that standpoint you lose that edge to the rivalry.”
Both Grahn and Sheboygan Falls High School Principal Luke Goral say the rivalry will continue, just in non-conference games.
“You know with the proximity, at least we’ll be able to hold on to some of that rivalry and some of that tradition in a lot of the sports.”
The first non-conference match up for the two will be on the gridiron August 28 as Sheboygan Falls host Plymouth.
