RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis (WHBL-WAOW) - One lane of Rib Mountain Drive is blocked with debris after an apparent explosion.
The incident involves a U-Haul truck carrying propane and other flamable items in the cargo box. It's unclear what triggered the explosion.
Marathon County Sheriff's Lieutenant Ryan Weber says the U-Haul trailer exploded as the towing vehicle was pulling away from the traffic signals in front of Wal Mart.
Sheriff's Department Lieutenant Ryan Weber says there were no injuries. "Nobody's hurt. There were at least two other vehicles that were damaged by the debris from the explosion."
The Marathon-Oneida County Bomb Squad is investigating the incident, which involved a propane tank inside the trailer. The explosion left tools, household items, and debris scattered over the intersection and about 100 feet of southbound Rib Mountain Drive.
Weber says they do not believe there is any criminal behavior involved.
Several people alerted police that the heard or felt the blast. It's not clear what caused it. A fire truck from the SAFER District is on the scene. Other emergency crews are in the area.
The incident is still under investigation.
