SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - It wouldn’t be summer in Sheboygan without Brat Days. Events got underway Thursday in Kiwanis Park for the 62nd annual event, hosted by the Sheboygan Jaycees.
Chairperson Steve Beine and Jaycee spokesperson Carmen Courtright tells WHBL News a dozen bands will be performing on the various stages this year, including two tribute bands. "We have Hotel California, which is an Eagles tribute band. They’re on Saturday. As well as Separate Ways, which is a Journey tribute band." Separate Ways performs on Friday.
Other activities include the annual parade Saturday morning, the brat eating contest Saturday, and a carnival throughout the event.
Of course, there is also the many ways to eat a brat. "We’ve got the brat jambalaya. We’ve got our other vendors that have like the Mexican brat tacos, brat egg rolls. We’ve got Toppers with the brat pizza."
Beine says there is a change this year regarding where you can access the free shuttle to the event. "We’re picking up from downtown; Seventh and Eighth and Niagara, that parking lot from the city’s free parking. And the shuttle will pick you up and bring you down to the park, so you don’t have to fight traffic too much and the five dollar parking fee we have at the park."
Proceeds raised at Brat Days helps to fund the various charities they sponsor.
