SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan’s North Pier is closed after a boat crashed into it Wednesday evening, injuring three people.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department says they got word around 9:40 p.m. of the 29 foot fishing vessel striking a break wall at the marina. The boat came to rest on the rocks along the north side of North Pier.
The boat’s operator, 72 year old Ronald O. Campbell of Reedsville, and two passengers, 63 year old Donald M. Lisowe of Kiel and 58 year old Karen Lisowe of Kiel, were taken to Sheboygan Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The sheriff’s department says the boat was likely traveling around 22 miles per hour when it struck the pier. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
An investigation continues.
Other agencies responding to the scene included the Sheboygan County Water Safety Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, Sheboygan Fire and Sheboygan Police.
