Sheboygan, WI (WHBL) – A city bus happened to drive by the Shopko just before the robber got away, and that’s how they got him.
Sheboygan transit bus video, and surveillance video obtained from the recent Shopko pharmacy heist is how detectives managed to link a Sheboygan Falls man to a string of similar robberies.
The Shopko was robbed on July 13, 2015.
A fifteen page criminal complaint filed in Sheboygan County Court earlier today reveals that detectives were able to nab 46 year old, Brian J. Scheele, after footage from a city bus showed a black Dodge Charger flee the scene immediately after the robbery. Police and Sheriffs officials traced the charger to Scheele.
By then, investigators looking into the Shopko robbery, and robberies at two Glander Prescription Plus pharmacies were already closing in on identifying a suspect in all three cases.
Scheele reportedly used the same mode of operation in all of the robberies, and the drugs that were taken were among four that the robber appears to have targeted; Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Alprazolam.
Witnesses in each robbery provided police with the same description. Even the clothing was uniform - dark top and bottom, a hat, wraparound sunglasses, and a surgical mask (worn in the Shopko robbery).
Detectives looking into similarities between the cases discovered that Scheele was a regular customer at Glander, and picked up prescriptions for Alprazolam.
Scheele faces more than half a dozen charges including; one count of armed robbery, two counts of robbery with threat of force, one count of burglary, and three counts of possession of narcotics. The combination of charges could land Scheele behind bars for more than thirty years, if convicted.
