TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WHBL) - 20 year old Tyler Zastrow made his first appearance in Sheboygan County Circuit Court Monday connected to allegedly attacking a DNR officer at Kohler-Andrae State Park July 11.

According to the criminal complaint, park ranger Ryan O’Keefe was called to investigate several disturbances at campsites caused by the same person.  He was told of a young male who would scare people, swore, punched a car, and passed out.

After about a half hour, O'Keefe found Zastrow lying on the grass.  When asked about the incident, Zastrow did not reference them.  He only said he wanted to go home but would also run away from the officer if he was going to be arrested.

Concerned for him leaving, O’Keefe tried to restrain Zastrow on the ground.  This led to Zastrow allegedly attacking O’Keefe with punches to his face.  The criminal complaint states O'Keefe suffered some minor injuries.

Zastrow would get away, but O’Keefe says he caught up and got Zastrow back to the ground.  The ranger allegedly used pepper spray and a knee to keep Zastrow still until Sheboygan County Sheriff deputies arrived.

When interviewed later, Zastrow claimed he had six beers, has an alcohol problem, and had a heroin problem in the past.

Zastrow now faces up to seven years in prison if he is found guilty of battery to a peace officer, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct.
