Sheboygan, WI (WHBL) - People driving along parts of Erie Avenue were undoubtedly startled by the sudden appearance of police squad cars rerouting traffic and cordoning off streets. Even the Burger King restaurant, located at 1322 Erie Avenue, was abruptly closed temporarily as police encircled a vehicle from which someone reportedly flashed a handgun.
Officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle in the 1300 block of Erie Avenue. Two adults and four children were inside the car. Police say that a handgun was also found inside. There were no injuries.
The tactics used to stop and detain the suspects’ vehicle are being referred to as a “High Risk Traffic Stop,” which police say helps to minimize the risks to civilians, and nearby residents.
Police took two people into custody as they continue to investigate the incident.
