RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Now that the school year is over in Random Lake, work will pick up on a number of district projects.
Last fall, voters in the Random Lake School district approved an $8.5-million referendum for improvements to their facilities.
Superintendent Tom Malmstadt tells WHBL News that since the vote, most of the work has been on improving the district's athletic fields. "We have our football fields becoming reground and we should have the sod on that within the month," says Malmstadt. Regarding the soccer field, he said, "They’re putting some piping underground to make sure that our storm water management is handled properly."
The district also began work on replacing boilers in their building.
With kids out for the summer, other projects will be worked on. These include fixing the building roof, doing security upgrades for people entering the building during the school day, and continuing the implementation of programs for the district's one-on-one technology goal.
Malmstadt says work will not be completed by the time the next school year starts. "We’re probably going to have about 90-percent of it done. We still may have some things out in our tech ed area just because of the short window of opportunity we have in the summer." Malmstadt says it will be sometime in September during a weekend.
The athletic fields should be ready in time for the fall sports seasons.
