Update: Vehicle Hits Deer, Sending it into Another Vehicle

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (WHBL) - A rural Elkhart Lake man was injured Wednesday morning after his SUV was hit by an airborne deer on Highway 57 northeast of Elkhart Lake.  The Sheriff’s Department said 51 year old Tyler Schaefer was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.  Lt. Mark Rupnik said it happened about 5:30 when a car driven by 47 year old Scott Curtiss, of Plymouth, hit the deer and sent it airborne into an the oncoming SUV.  Rupnik said the deer slammed into the windshield of Schaeffer's vehicle and crushed the roof.  He was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital and then transported by Flight for Life to St. Vincent.  No word on the extent of Schaefer’s injuries.
