SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The court cases against two men charged for stealing items from Whistling Straits are finalized. On Monday, Judge Timothy Van Akkeren dismissed a theft charge against Jeffery Ziegler of Florida.
He and Anthony Ricci of Illinois were charged last September for stealing money and high-priced items from golfers and the pro shop at the course, totaling over 15-thousand dollars.
Law enforcement connected the crime to the two for several reasons. This included surveillance video showed Ricci stealing items from the pro shop, a friend of the two noticing items with the Whistling Straits logo on them at Ricci’s apartment, and finding out the two have committed similar crimes at high-end golf courses in the past, with Ziegler arrested for such a crime in Florida.
Online court records show Ricci was given a deferred sentence in May, meaning his charge would be dropped next year if he follows certain conditions.
