TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WHBL) - The next step in approving the proposed Kohler golf course in the Town of Wilson has been taken.

The Kohler Company submitted an environmental impact report to the DNR this week detailing how an 18-hole golf course would impact tented forest land along Lake Michigan.

"There’ll be a net increase in the overall wetlands.  We will be ridding the property of the invasive species that are on the site.  We’ll be uncovering the natural sand dunes that are on the property." says Jim Richerson, Group Director of Golf.

Richerson says plans have been altered since the course was first proposed last year with input from area residents.  "We are building this project within the best environmental capacities to make sure this program is great for the natural environments of the piece of property and for the community at large," says Richerson.

It will be several months before the DNR makes its decision on the project, and that will be followed by the Town of Wilson.

The entire environmental impact report can be found online with this web address: http://www.proposedgolfcourse.com/environmental-impact/environmental-impact-report/
