GREEN BAY, Wis.(WHBL) - Wisconsin’s biggest snowstorm of the New Year arrived in the middle of the night. And it was still raining in parts of southern Wisconsin, where torrential rainstorms hit last evening. Madison got two-and-a-quarter inches, and West Allis had about an inch-of-a-half of rain. There was flooding at a Kenosha park, and on streets in Kenosha and Racine counties. A flood warning remains in effect on the Sheboygan River, which is a foot-and-a-half below its flood stage. Most of the state is now under snow warnings and advisories – and it could drift in a number of places. Six-to-eight inches are expected by tonight in the Madison area and southwest Wisconsin. Five-to-nine inches are forecast for central areas, the Fox Valley, and the northeast. The Black River Falls region expects 4-to-7 inches. Three-to-six inches of snow are predicted from Wausau northward. The Eau Claire area could escape with 1-to-3 inches. Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties may get 2-to-3 inches of snow, after it rains a little more this morning. Milwaukee had a record high of 60 yesterday, but it only lasted for a short time in the afternoon. At two this morning, Milwaukee’s wind chill was back down to 27. Madison also set a new record high for yesterday with 54. It was down to 35 overnight. And get ready for much colder temps. Arctic air will move in after the snow moves out. Tonight’s lows are expected to be around zero statewide.
