SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - More people are taking the bus in Sheboygan.

Sheboygan Director of Transit and Parking Derek Muench says ridership increased by over three-percent in 2014. "The trips per hour actually I think is really good," sas Muench.  "We went from 11.95 (people per bus per hour) in 2013 up to 12.91 in 2014, so it was an increase of almost one extra trip per hour"

The report also showed ridership is up 13-percent over the past two years.

Muench says the bus service ranked best for safety among all large transit services in Wisconsin having only one at-fault preventable accident.  "We put on 783-thousand miles, and that’s just revenue miles, on the road and having only one at-fault accident is pretty phenomenal," says Muench.

Muench says this is the second year in a row Shoreline Metro had the best accident record for their size transit service in the state.
