WASHINGTON D.C. (WHBL) - It has been about two months since Glenn Grothman became Wisconsin’s newest Congressman, and former state senator is transitioning well.
Grothman has needed little time to change his routine from Madison to Washington and has been busy with committee work. "I’m not sure there are any other freshmen up here who are on four committees, including three committees that I asked for. And it gives me an opportunity to have an influence right away," says Grothman.
Grothman has only introduced one bill so far, but is preparing legislation that would remove what he calls a marriage penalty in Obama-care, fulfilling a campaign promise. "We have a huge marriage penalty in our society in so many programs," says Grothman. "And of course Obama-care, not surprising, is one more program in which the government is saying please raise your kids out of wedlock."
Grothman remains committed to cutting federal spending on the government. That was made evident this week with a no vote to fund the Department of Homeland Security, claiming no effort was made to cut spending.
