SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - We know one of Sheboygan County's best spellers for 2015.  The Sheboygan city-wide spelling bee was held last week at Acuity, where Roderic Moreno, a ten-year-old fifth grader from Lake Country Academy, beat out seven others for the title.

Coordinator Paul De Pagter says the event took about 90 minutes to find a winner, with a back and forth battle between the final two spellers.  "With the rules, you have to spell two in a row correctly to win it," says De Pagter.  "So we would have one of the spellers would get it correct, but then when they had their championship word they would get that incorrect, so technically a new round starts over again."

As for the rest of the schools in Sheboygan County, their spelling bee will be held February 2nd.  That winner and Moreno will take part in the statewide bee March 28th in Madison to determine which three will represent Wisconsin in the national spelling bee this spring.
