SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Governor Scott Walker wants to change people’s minds when it comes to choosing a higher education option.  Speaking in Sheboygan Tuesday during the New North Summit, Walker says more needs to be done to encourage getting educated at a technical college.

Walker tells WHBL News there is nothing wrong with getting a four year degree from a university, "but increasingly the job openings that are not just job openings, they are good paying careers, require a two year technical degree, whether it’s in manufacturing but also information technology, health care, construction, transportation," Walker said.

Walker has done his part to promote technical colleges while in office by visiting all 16 of them in the state and increasing state funding for new programs, expansions and scholarships.
