SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) -  The number of people who want to replace Glenn Grothman in the State Senate has grown to three.  Ralph Prescott is the latest to join the eventual race.  You may remember him as one of four Republicans who ran for Dan LeMahieu's Assembly seat this fall, but lost to eventual winner Jesse Kremer.

Prescott says he has gotten a lot of encouragement to run for the state Senate.  "There are a lot of people that feels that they need to have alternatives to this race," says Prescott

The six year Calumet County Board member believes the experience of running for the Assembly this year will help him in his run for state Senate knowing what voters are concerned about.  "You learn what was important to them, what was satisfying them, and what was not" says Prescott.

Prescott touts his connection with Grothman while working with the state Republican Party, and says he can be better than Grothman thanks to his work in the supermarket industry.  "When anyone tries to talk corporate greed to someone who with our company’s experience they’ve got nothing to stand on because we know corporations not only bring jobs but a lot more to the communities," says Prescott.

Prescott joins outgoing Assemblyman Duey Stroebel and Ozaukee County Board Chairman Lee Schlenvogt in seeking the Republican ballot spot for an election that still needs to be called for.
