GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) - Packers officials are talking about their new alcohol policy for the first time since Saturday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Director of Security Operations Doug Collins says it didn't go too smoothly.
"It didn't go perfect, there were some communication errors at times," said Collins. "There may have been some vendors in the bowl who were still selling because they had their backs turned to the field and didn't know the 3rd quarter kicked off."
Collins says, however, they believe the decision to cut alcohol sales after halftime helped overall. Many fans were drunk before they even entered the gates at 1265 Lombardi Avenue, and Collins indicated that allowed law enforcement to prevent them from going inside and causing problems.
Collins adds fans can help them out by notifying security of drunk and unruly fans in the parking lots so they can be dealt with before they get a chance to get inside the stadium.
As for the 21 arrests and 91 ejections, Collins pointed to increased security and more fans reporting incidents.
"We had a higher number of complaints from a text message standpoint, from speaking to an usher, private officer, security, than we had in previous games," Collins said.
Collins says they would consider bringing back some of these policies if the Packers host the NFC Championship game a week from Sunday.
