SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The public gets a chance to comment in the 2015 Sheboygan city budget during a public hearing set for Monday night. Property owners had been facing a tax increase, but Chief Administrative Officer Jim Amodeo said it was eliminated by extending the garbage fee and reducing the cost of health benefits for city workers.
Aldermen are expected to officially approve a resolution to extend the garbage fee since they endorsed the measure 10 to 4 in the Committee of the Whole. The city portion of the tax bill is expected to remain at $8.39 next year - the same as this year. The total tax rate this year with all components was $22.81. The public hearing on the budget begins at 6pm in the council chambers of city hall.
