SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - More witnesses and evidence were presented during day two of the Travis Tramte trial. The 32 year old Sheboygan man is charged with reckless homicide in a heroin overdose death incident back in July of 2013.
The prosecution wrapped up their case Wednesday, calling several medical experts to testify. One of them conducted the autopsy on 30 year old Kathryn Jakimczyk, saying her death was a slow one - taking nine hours after injecting the heroin. The volume of heroin injected played a significant role, meaning that by the time she arrived at a hospital, there was nothing that could be done to save her. The prosecution also presented a redacted recording of Tramte’s interview with police shortly after Jakimczyk’s death.
The defense began their testimony Wednesday, calling several witnesses and focusing on the actions of Matais Montemayor, Jakimczyk’s boyfriend, around the time of her death.
It is still likely the jury will start deliberating the case sometime Thursday.
