Unemployment rates up in June in the area

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The start of summer led to an increase in the area’s unemployment rates.

According to figures from the Department of Workforce Development, Sheboygan County saw the number of people employed increase by 900 in June when compared to one month and one year ago.  However, the unemployment rate increased fourth-tenths of a percent in both the City of Sheboygan and Sheboygan County.  The rates last month are 6.4 for the city and 5.2 for the county.

Most counties, major cities, and metro areas in the state saw their unemployment rates increase last month.  For Wisconsin as a whole, the unemployment rate held steady at 5.7-percent.
