SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - You can no longer use sky lanterns in the City of Sheboygan. The Common Council voted 10-2 Monday evening to ban these items in the city.
During Sheboygan’s Morning News, Mayor Mike Vandersteen said the ban came at the request of Sheboygan Fire Chief Mike Romas, who shared with alderpersons the potential fire hazard this item could cause and why other communities across the country are banning them.
Sky lanterns are small balloon-like items that have a candle in the middle that help the lantern float in the air.
