
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - There will be a three-way race for the office of Mayor in the city of Sheboygan. Yesterday was the deadline for filing nomination papers for the spring election and Mayor Terry Van Akkeren is being challenged by former County Board Chairman Mike Vandersteen and Alderman John Belanger. They will meet in a primary on February 19th and the top two vote-getters will advance to the April ballot. Meanwhile, there will be contests for two of the 8 aldermanic seats that are up in April. In the 4th district, incumbent Kevin Matichek is being challenged by former alderman Kevin Sampson. And, in the 6th district, Asher Heimermann and Mark Hermann are running for the seat vacated by veteran Alderman Bill Wangemann. All of the other districts have candidates running unopposed, including newcomers Todd Wolf in the first district and Billy Thiel in the 5th. The remaining districts have incumbents running unopposed
