SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - With the Fourth of July upon us, the Sheboygan Police Department will be busy making sure people have a safe, fun time celebration our nation’s independence.
-First and foremost, no one is allowed to possess or use fireworks in the city. Those caught will face fines.
-Along the lakeshore, the department is reminding people that alcohol is not allowed on the actual beach. It is permissable on grassy areas, but officers will be strickly enforcing the ban on beach areas. As usual, bonfires are allowed on the beach this evening but with restrictions. The fire must be less than three feet in diameter and 18 inches in height. Fires can only be wood fueled and you are asked to not bury them with sand when putting them out. Also, any boats and watercrafts must stay clear of beach areas.
-The department will also conduct its usual traffic flow following the fireworks show along the lakeshore. Vehicles will be funneled to travel west on Indiana and Pennsylvania Avenues to 14th Street and south of 8th Street so that vehicles can get out in an orderly fashion.
-Finally, if you are traveling by bike around the city for activities, the department will have two free corral locations for bikes to park at Deland Park and South Pier. Those not picked up by 11 p.m. will be impounded.
