MADISON, WI (WHBL) - The majority of the school districts in Sheboygan County will be receiving increased state school aids for the upcoming school year. Figures released by the Department of Public Instruction show the Sheboygan Area district will get 3 percent more than last year - an increase of about 2-million dollars. Sheboygan Falls will see a 6 percent increase - about 573,000 dollars. School aids for Plymouth will be up 6 percent - about 560,000 dollars. Three districts will get less. Howards Grove will lose 102,000 dollars - down 2 percent. Kohler school aids will decrease 15 percent - about 57,000 dollars. And, Random Lake will be down about 9 percent, or 444,000 dollars. The other districts receiving more are: Cedar Grove, up 1 percent or $102,000, Howards Grove up 2 percent or $102,000 and Oostburg up 6 percent or $343,000. Bob Soldner, Director of School Financial Services with the DPI, says a number of factors determine who gets more or less next year, including student counts, property values, and on the amount the district spends to support their schools. He said, statewide, 225 districts will see increases while 197 will see a drop in state aid.
