TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WHBL) - Details emerged Monday evening on how a fifth Kohler owned golf course in Sheboygan County would look like.

At a packed Town of Wilson Plan Commission meeting, Kohler Company lawyer Steven Westphal said an ultimate goal for the 18 hole facility, which would be located on current tented forest land along Lake Michigan north of the Kohler Andrae State Park, is to make it one of the top 50 golf courses in the world.  That would make it at the same level or better than Wistling Straits.

There is opposition to the course.  The group “Friends of the Black River Forest” handed out papers to meeting attendees raising questions on the impact a course would have on the land and area residents.  Plan Commission members asked a number of questions ranging from what will be used for road pavement to issues of noise.  Chair Doug Fuller provided his thoughts on how this plan could goes forward; saying if the course can enhance the area's habitat, it will be in the best interest for Kohler.

A public hearing to approve conditional use permits for this project will be held June 9.
