SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A 12 year old, high-profile, kidnapping and attempted murder case, was back in Sheboygan County Court Wednesday.

The case involves Renata Neuaone who is currently serving a 22 year sentence in the Taycheedah women’s prison for attempting to hang a 20 year old woman from the railroad trestle near the Blue Line Ice Center in December of 2001.  The victim, who was involved in a dispute over the drug ecstasy, was saved when the rope broke.

Neuaone’s attorney is seeking a re-sentencing.  He argued in court that Neuanone received 22 years, while her husband Somkith, a local drug lord who orchestrated the incident from his jail cell only received 8 years.  And Troy Olmsted, the accomplice who pushed the victim, only got 12 years.  The attorney argued that psychological testing at Taycheedah showed Renata suffered from a personality disorder which may have been responsible for her behavior.

Judge L. Edward Stengel said he would review documents in the case and issue an oral ruling at a later date.
