SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Milwaukee man was formally charged Thursday in connection with the high speed chase which occurred on I-43 in Sheboygan County on Tuesday. 42 year old Jeffery Bridges was allegedly the driver of the car that led officers on a chase at speeds of up to 115 miles per hour into Manitowoc County. Deputies were attempting to stop the car on I-43 after it was believed the occupants had been involved in retail theft at the Deer Trace Home Depot. Authorities said the car hit spike strips, then turned off of I-43 at County C in Manitowoc County, then continued fleeing on deflated tires until Bridges began losing control. He finally stopped, got out and laid down on the shoulder of the road, and was taken into custody along with two other Milwaukee men. Bridges is facing up to 3 and a half years in prison if convicted.
