SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Severe storms with thunder, lightning and heavy rain caused problems around the Sheboygan area on Saturday.  The winds ripped a canopy off of the Cleveland Elementary School resulting in water damage to two of the classrooms.  A district spokesperson said over the weekend that the classrooms were being cleaned Sunday and the students will be moved to other areas of the school today while repairs are made.  Also on Saturday, a lightning strike took out a well at Sigma-Aldrich Chemical on County V.  Town of Wilson Fire Chief Brian Schmitt said the well fills the one-million gallon fire pond which provides water for the entire fire suppression system at the facility, shutting down production at the plant.  Schmitt said 9 area fire departments yesterday assisted town of Wilson in pumping water from a nearby water retention pond into the empty fire pond.  They also brought in water from hydrants in the city of Sheboygan’s industrial park.  Schmitt said that by 3 p.m. yesterday they transferred 250,000 gallons from the city of Sheboygan and transferred 300,000 gallons from the pond, allowing production at Aldridge to resume.
